Cross-linked files, Partition resize problem

Post  Goh on Fri Nov 19, 2010 7:46 am

You may encounter the "cross linked, file allocation error" when using Paragon partition manager or some others- basically you would not be able to resize a partition.

To fix this, go into recovery console and run Chkdsk /R.

I had this problem recently when trying to create an extended partition for linux-Backtrack 4 R1.

Here are the preferred settings:
ext3 1GB <-- /boot
reiserfs 11GB <-- / or root requires more (5.8gb)
linux swap 2 1GB
